Paintings
"A few months ago I was in my studio painting and my friend came in. He picked up one of the pieces I was working on, looked at me and said "You know, these paintings really do depict what is going on in your life right now!" I had never really thought about my work in that way until that moment.
I have never really been one to purposely put a meaning behind what I paint. Usually an idea will jump into my head when I wake up from a dream, or when I am out skateboarding, or listening to my favorite music in my studio and I just paint what I see in my head. I don't really sketch anything out before I go because I feel that if I plan it and don't get onto it right away, it may no longer be relevant or important to me. I am a very spur of the moment person and like to paint things that are going on in my head at that exact moment. Sometimes it comes out as a phrase. Sometimes it comes out as a geometrical colorful land scape that has been painted in my head due to a dream or the way notes and sounds in a song flow together. Sometimes its simply a painting of a person I admire in some way."
